In the spring of 2008, what started out as the idea to perform a spring concert featuring several songs from favorite Broadway musicals soon turned into a full-fledged, main stage production. Broadway Bound was born. Written by Emily Hotz, the show was held on the stage of the Lincoln Cultural Center Auditorium and was extremely well received by the community, drawing large crowds at both the 2:00pm and the 7:00pm performances.

Choir member Drew Hannay put together a Broadway Bound photo book using Photoworks.com as a present for Marla and Emily. That photo book is now available for purchase by the general public. If you would like to view or purchase the photo book, you may do so by clicking here.

"We are going to be on Broadway!"
"Umm...that is not exactly right."
"What do you mean? It is exactly right! We are going to be on Broadway!"
"Let me explain..."

"The Kankakee Valley Performance Choir has been chosen to perform as part of this concert in New York. Hundreds of choirs from around the country have competed for the chance to be part of this showcase that will be held in a Broadway theatre. As you can imagine, we pretty much lost our minds when we found out that we were one of the 6 choirs to be selected. We are going to be on Broadway!"

"This is the last song that will be sung in Act 1 of the showcase and it is up to us to blow the audience away before sending them into intermission. So I am going to need you all to dig deep and get ready to deliver a song of epic passion and earthmoving depth!
Piece of cake!"

"I am loving every minute of this!"
"I know! These songs play in my head non-stop."
"They have become like the soundtrack of my life."
"Yeah and just think how far we've come. Seriously, do you remember our first rehearsal?"

"There are 39 Broadway Theatres in New York and 45,000 professional actors. That puts our odds of actually making it into a Broadway Production somewhere around one in TEN THOUSAND!
...Give or take a few."
"Excuse me, but are you really giving us the statistical odds of becoming a star? Because the only number that matters in this game is that you are one in a million!"

"Tomorrow evening we will be performing on a stage that most of us have spent our entire lives dreaming about. The house will be packed, made up entirely of faces we have never seen before. Our cheeks will be flushed from the spot lights shining on us, and the thing I will never possibly forget is how our voices fill every corner of the theatre. For one perfect moment, we are on Broadway.
Together."

There's only us
There's only this
Forget regret or life is yours to miss
No other road, no other way
No day but today
